THE ARBATAX - MANDAS LINE:
Built at the end of the 1800's, the Arbatax-Mandas line is 159 km long, taking in the rich and heavy landscape of Ogliastra and Barbagia.
Many old stations and mountain towns welcome warmly the two diesel locomotives carrying adventurers and locals alike passing chasmic valleys, iron bridges and native fauna filled pastureland.
Fuelled by nostalgia and charm this friendly service covers distance and time.
Transfers to historical Sardegna are in abundance with possibilities of lunch in shepherds huts, exploration of caves and the chance to experience local customs and hospitality.
The Little Green train is a secondary railway but a first class journey.
